Introduction: Increasing environmental uncertainty has made supply chain resilience a strategic priority for organizations operating in distribution and logistics networks. Recent disruptions, including pandemics, geopolitical tensions, natural disasters, and cyber threats, have demonstrated that conventional efficiency-oriented supply chain strategies are insufficient for maintaining operational continuity under turbulent conditions. Consequently, organizations are required to develop capabilities that enable them to anticipate disruptions, respond rapidly, and recover effectively while sustaining performance. The rapid development of digital technologies has created new opportunities to strengthen supply chain resilience. Technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, blockchain, cloud computing, and big data analytics improve information visibility, coordination, and decision quality across supply chain partners. However, these technologies rarely create value independently; their greatest potential emerges when they are integrated into a coherent digital ecosystem. Despite increasing scholarly attention, previous studies have mainly investigated the isolated effects of individual technologies, providing limited understanding of how their convergence contributes to resilient supply chains. Likewise, the role of digital agility in transforming technological capabilities into resilience outcomes has received insufficient attention, particularly in distribution and logistics companies. To address this gap, the present study develops a qualitative framework explaining the application of convergent technologies in enhancing supply chain resilience through digital agility. By adopting an integrated perspective, the study examines how technological, organizational, and human capabilities interact to improve resilience in distribution and logistics companies. The proposed framework seeks to enrich the existing literature while providing practical guidance for organizations pursuing digital transformation in increasingly uncertain business environments.
Methodology: This study adopted an applied qualitative research design to develop a conceptual framework for applying convergent technologies to enhance supply chain resilience through digital agility. Given the exploratory nature of the research, qualitative inquiry was considered appropriate for capturing experts' experiences and identifying the underlying dimensions of the phenomenon. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 15 experts in convergent technologies, supply chain management, logistics, and digital transformation. Participants were selected using purposive and snowball sampling, and interviews continued until theoretical saturation was achieved. The data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke's six-phase thematic analysis with the support of MAXQDA software. To ensure research rigor, credibility was enhanced through member checking and expert validation, while coding reliability was confirmed through inter-coder agreement. The analysis resulted in 58 initial codes, which were synthesized into 14 basic themes, 7 organizing themes, and one overarching theme describing the application of convergent technologies for strengthening supply chain resilience through digital agility.
Discussion and Results:
Results: The analysis generated 58 initial codes, 14 basic themes, seven organizing themes, and one overarching theme. The identified organizing themes comprise convergent digital technologies, digital infrastructure and integration, digital agility, intelligent communication and networking, digital human capital, intelligent decision-making, and cybersecurity for supply chain resilience. The findings demonstrate that the convergence of digital technologies enhances supply chain resilience by improving organizational responsiveness, visibility, coordination, cybersecurity, and data-driven decision-making. Digital agility emerged as a key mediating mechanism linking technological capabilities to resilient supply chain performance. Unlike previous studies that primarily examine individual digital technologies in isolation, this research offers an integrated qualitative framework that explains how convergent technologies collectively contribute to supply chain resilience through digital agility. The proposed model illustrates that resilience is not achieved through a single technological solution but through the synergistic interplay of infrastructure, human capital, process agility, and intelligent systems.
Conclusion: The findings indicate that supply chain resilience is achieved through the integration of complementary technological and organizational capabilities rather than through the implementation of individual digital technologies. The proposed framework suggests that convergent technologies generate sustainable value when supported by digital agility, integrated infrastructure, skilled human resources, intelligent communication, data-driven decision-making, and cybersecurity. These capabilities jointly enhance organizational flexibility, visibility, coordination, and responsiveness, enabling firms to manage disruptions more effectively. A key contribution of this study is the identification of digital agility as the capability that connects technological investment with resilient operational performance. While advanced digital technologies improve access to information and analytical capabilities, their effectiveness depends on organizations' ability to rapidly adapt processes, reconfigure resources, and respond to environmental changes. Accordingly, digital transformation should be viewed as an organizational capability that combines technological, managerial, and human dimensions. The proposed framework also offers practical implications for managers in distribution and logistics companies. Rather than adopting isolated digital solutions, organizations should pursue integrated digital transformation strategies that simultaneously strengthen digital infrastructure, employee capabilities, information sharing, and cybersecurity. Such an integrated approach improves collaboration among supply chain partners, supports timely decision-making, and enhances organizational preparedness for future disruptions. From a theoretical perspective, this study contributes to the supply chain resilience literature by presenting a comprehensive qualitative framework that explains how convergent technologies interact with digital agility to strengthen resilience. By integrating 58 initial codes, 14 basic themes, and 7 organizing themes into a coherent conceptual model, the study extends current knowledge beyond technology-specific approaches and provides a broader understanding of resilience in digitally transformed supply chains. Although the framework was developed from expert perspectives within distribution and logistics companies, it provides a foundation for future quantitative research. Further studies may validate the proposed model using structural equation modeling and examine its applicability across different industries and organizational contexts. In conclusion, the study demonstrates that resilient supply chains are built through the coordinated application of convergent technologies supported by digital agility, integrated digital infrastructure, intelligent communication, digital human capital, data-driven decision-making, and cybersecurity. The proposed framework advances theoretical understanding while offering a practical roadmap for organizations seeking to develop more adaptive, responsive, and sustainable supply chains in an increasingly dynamic digital environment.
